About the E.S.C.H.E.R. Lab
The E.S.C.H.E.R. Lab is a Cognitive Science lab in the Department of Psychology at Elon University. Through collaborative research, we seek to understand how fundamental cognitive processes associated with conceptualization are interrelated to other cognitive processes and behaviors. For instance, we have connected concept learning processes in humans to processes related to perception, decision-making, and to what humans find informative.
Most recently, we demonstrated via a novel experimental paradigm how humans can learn multidimensional conceptual relations without explicit feedback (Doan & Vigo, 2025). In current and future work, we aim to connect oculomotor behavior (measured via eye-tracking technology) to fundamental cognitive capacities, such as visual attention, working memory, and conceptualization.
