Current Projects

At E.S.C.H.E.R., we continually explore the interrelationships between different cognitive processes and how they can be precisely measured.  Below, please find research projects currently underway!

Connections between Oculomotor and Conceptual Behavior

Using research-grade eye-tracking equipment, we seek to investigate how patterns in looking behavior may be related to the acquisition of conceptual information. Our research aims to answer the following questions:

  • What information can be learned without supervision, and is this learning reflected in changes in oculomotor behavior?

  • How does prior knowledge affect the unsupervised learning of new information?  Does the use of prior knowledge reliably determine patterns of oculomotor behavior when conceptualizing new information?

  • How is mTBI-related injury related to oculomotor behavior and conceptual processing?

  • Is there a relationship between conceptualization and feature inference for uncertain categorizations? How does this relationship manifest in patterns of fixations and saccades as measured via an eye-tracker?
